How To Start A WordPress Blog On Bluehost

Today I will show you how to easily create your WordPress blog. Blogging has made my dreams come true and allows me to earn a substantial income doing what I love. You can start your own blog too and receive a free domain name through my link. Act quickly though because who knows how long those prices will last.

Click here to start a blog on WordPress and read my guide below on how to set it up easily. If you are looking to start a cheap blog, consider choosing BlueHost as your web host. BlueHost is an outstanding web host as well as one of the top web hosting companies in 2016 and I have personally had a great experience with them.

One of the most common questions I still get today is: How do I start a blog? Is it easy? Which platform should I use?

how to start a blog

First of all I completely get it. When I started my first blog eight years ago I had the same questions and back then there was hardly any useful information. I researched for hours, days and months and guessed my way into the world of blogging… and lucky for me successfully! I signed up for a WordPress blog, started earning thousands of dollars and went to Fashion Week…

Well no not really… it is true I set up a WordPress blog and attended Fashion Week after three years of fashion blogging which was an honor but the business of blogging was in its baby steps back in the day and I hardly made income from it..

However this has changed heavily in the past year.. I am sure you have read about beauty, fashion or travel influencers earning six figures… this is an actual reality but it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get there. The most important step is to find the right platform and I am happy to share my information on how to start your blog so you can make your mark on expressing your passion.

So remember I told you about my first successes as a blogger, however one moment took that all away. I was happy with my WordPress blog – due to its search-friendly nature a lot of my content was being indexed by google and as a result I had over 100.000 visitors each month waiting to hear the latest fashion news. Then the unthinkable happened and my blogging career came to a screeching halt…. I got hacked. BIG TIME. All of a sudden my platform was deleted, replaced for one with a virus link and a majority of my content was gone. All three years of heart, sweat and tears reduced to a shell of itself…

I took a break after that time to refocus on my corporate career and I wanted to start all over again with my true passion which is travelling. I was however hesitant to do it all again and be disappointed.

I knew I would stick with WordPress as it worked remarkably well but I knew I had to find the perfect host. If you google right now for your perfect host for a blog you will find thousands of results… but no real information on how to set this up. This is why I am here and I am happy to recommend what has been working for me for the last two years without breaking the bank: BlueHost. You can start your own blog for as low as 3.95$ a month (this low price is through my link only). If you sign up using my link, you will get your domain free of charge if you purchase a 12 month or longer hosting plan. I highly recommend signing up for the 12 month hosting plan through Bluehost. It is affordable and you can save a lot of money. Plus, there are no contracts and you can get a refund anytime, even after 8 months! And do not forget there is no way I was going to risk facing any problems with the security of my site… with 24/7 support I have to say I am the happiest I have ever been.

There are millions of other free hosting solutions, but I always advise to pay a little extra as you can set up your own domain (self-hosting) and if like me you accidentally start getting popular you have the chance to create your own identity. I have seen a lot of people go to other hosting solutions such as Blogspot.com…the problem here is the domain is never really yours… Picture this: You are going to myblog.com or myblog.blogspot.com.. What looks more professional and what is easier to remember for your future readers? For me that is an easy answer.

If you are interested in learning more on how to start a blog on WordPress, continue below. Don´t forget, if you sign up for Bluehost, but you are unsure on how to set it up, picking a plan, pricing, etc., do not hesitate to send me an email and I can help you out. That’s what I’m here for so don’t be afraid to send me an email.

I have set up a few golden rules to implement your WordPress blog on BlueHost. These are just a few perks you will get:

  • BlueHost, is very simple to use. Anybody can easily create a WordPress blog with BlueHost through the tutorial videos online.
  • You get your own FREE domain name.
  • The best thing is that WordPress through BlueHost is FREE of cost.
  • 24/7 high-tech support.
  • It’s amazingly low-priced that you can pay for your own blog for just a low amount of $3.95 for a month.
  • Look more professional with a self-hosted website if you would like to monetise your blog one day.
  • Bluehost provides a warranty in case you find out that it is not for you.

How to start a WordPress blog on Bluehost

1. Sign up your own domain

First of all you have to buy a domain name to start a blog. The domain name should be well thought as it has to be unique. You can easily get your domain from BlueHost, if you purchase the yearly contract from them. You have to sign up for the yearly subscription to get a complimentary domain and in this way you will be able to save a lot of money.

2. Select the plan for you

The next step is to purchase hosting for your blog from BlueHost. You should go for the BASIC plan to sign up for hosting – this is currently what I am using too for as low as $3.95 for a month and if you use my link you can get a domain free too.  The basic plan is extremely cheap but the Plus and Business Pro plans are a great option too. So if you later on want to go for bigger plans then you can change your plan and accelerate to Plus or Business Pro plans by paying the difference. You can also get refunds if you need at any time of the year.

3. Download WordPress on BlueHost

After getting the welcome email from BlueHost you have to click on the link which says “One Click Install”. After clicking on the specified link, click on the icon of WordPress, which is situated under the heading of “Blogs”. Now click on the “Start” button to start the installation process. After the process has started you will have to plan which domain you want to install WordPress on. Now see the “Advanced Options” to select the username and password for the website. Try to use something safe and protected for the username and also don’t choose the word “Admin” as your username as its not secure. Try to create a username which is a good combination of letters, numbers, symbols and anything you can use. Now click on the “Install Now” button. And also try to memorize your username and password. YAY, you are now a BLOGGER!

After I set up my blog what do you think I should do? What are the baby steps I should take after I created the blog using your guide?

I would recommend to find a WordPress template and set it up onto your blog. I will soon have a post up in regards to this. In my first week I also had a goal of atleast posting once.

For a few months I have used your guide for making blogs on wordpress, and I started actually earning some money, and decided, why not upgrade. But that sites costs were just too much, and since I am an avid follower of the blog I was excited when I found this post from you. I was overjoyed that I can make it that cheap <3

I heard a lot of good reviews about blue host hosting company, it seems they are great rivals to most of the companies out there. After reading this review I decided I shall try my hands at making a blog about food. Hopefully it will work out, thank you a lot for making this awesome guide!

This is an amazing guide. I always love to learn something new and whenever I googled how to start a good blog and tried the method I ended up with an ugly theme and some software that requires coding to work. I am glad I found your tutorial and now can create an awesome site for my poetry. Thank you!

Howdy! I understand this is kind of off-topic however I needed
to ask. Does building a well-established blog such as yours take
a lot of work? I am completely new to running a blog
but I do write in my journal every day. I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and views
online. Please let me know if you have any ideas or tips
for new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

Yes, it does at the beginning. It is all about high quality content though – it is best to focus on quality than quantity. Good luck with your blog! My biggest tip is to keep blogging fun and if you are new you can also look at cooperating with other blogs to gain a new audience.

Hey there would you mind stating which blog platform
you’re using? I’m planning to start my own blog in the near future but I’m having a tough time
making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs
and I’m looking for something unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Hey there! I would definitely suggest WordPress as it is simple to use and search friendly. It is the first platform I started with and I have never looked back. 🙂
